Martin Luther
God creates out of nothing. Therefore, until a man is nothing God can make nothing out of him.
Jesus became the greatest liar, perjurer, thief, adulterer and murderer that mankind has ever known – not because he committed these sins but because he was actually made sin for us.
To have more, desire less.
The devil seduces us at first by all the allurements of sin in order thereafter to plunge us into despair. He pampers up the flesh that he may by and by prostrate the spirit
Martin Luther was often very graphic in his description of the activities of the Devil. Asked one time how he overcame the Devil, he replied, “Well, when he comes knocking upon the door of my heart, and asks “Who lives here?” the dear Lord Jesus goes to the door and says, “Martin Luther used to live here but he has moved out. Now I live here.”
Nun lebe Ich hier.’”
When God wants to speak and deal with us, he does not avail himself of an angel but of parents, or the pastor, or of our neighbor.
No man understands the Scriptures, unless he be acquainted with the cross.

Pray, and let God worry.
I preach as though Christ was crucified yesterday; rose again from the dead today; and is coming back to earth tomorrow.
We are not made righteous by doing righteous deeds; but when we have been made righteous we do righteous deeds.
Do not call yourselves Lutherans, call yourselves Christians. Has Luther been crucified to the world?
If God promises something, then faith must fight a long and bitter fight, for reason or the flesh judges that God’s promises are impossible. Therefore faith must battle against reason and its doubts.
Luther was once asked, “Do you feel that you are a child of God this morning?” and he answered, “I cannot say that I do, but I know that I am.”
C.S. LEWIS
I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.
For Christians prayer is like breathing. You don’t have to think to breathe because the atmosphere exerts pressure on your lungs and forces you to breathe. That’s why it is more difficult to hold your breath than it is to breathe. Similarly, when you’re born into the family of God, you enter into a spiritual atmosphere wherein God’s presence and grace exert pressure, or influence, on your life. Prayer is the normal response to that pressure. As believers we have all entered the divine atmosphere to breathe the air of prayer. Only then can we survive in the darkness of the world.John MacArthur, Jr. in Alone with God
